Chamber choir VITA, Sergiev Posad
Art chief and leader - Antonina Frolova
The choir was founded in 1939 in Sergiev Posad (former Zagorsk). Since 1979 the group has been headed by Antonina Frolova. The members of the choir are teachers, doctors, engineers, students and office workers.
The repertoire is wide and various. It''s basis is antique Russian sacred music arranged by such composers as Bortnyansky, Rakhmaninov, Arkhangelsky as well as Russian folk songs and works of foreign composers.
The choir has visited a lot of historical and cultural centres of Russia, taken part in choral singing festivals, given charity concert of contribution to the Tchernobyl fund and the Soviet peace fund. The choir is a constant participant in the City Day festivities of Sergiev Posad the centre of Russian orthodoxy.
In 1991 the choir was invited to Germany. The German press gave high praise to the concert of VITA.
In 1994 the choir gave concerts in honour of jubilee of Fulda, Germany. The performances in the castle theatre Schlossteater were great success.
In 1992 and 1996 the choir VITA was invited to Ruel Malmezon, France to take part in the week of Russian culture and a local festivity.
In 1997 the choir toured in Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium, Holland, where it gave the set of concerts.
The choir VITA is prize-winner of the Tchaikovsky choir contest.
VITA has a unique performance style, its creative activity helps listeners to discover their spiritual abilities, keeps on and develops Russian national singing traditions? Serves peace and friendship among peoples, highs up spirit of humans.
